I'm on the same six year plan with my punk women book I'm working on as I was with Going Underground, it seems, with plans for it to be another overwhelmingly thorough and impressive tome. The original plan was for three decades of women, but that is far too much disparate material, so for now I'm concentrating on the 70's and 80's. No one has seemed to take the novel idea of merely looking at punk history through the eyes of women, and asking them all the same questions that men get asked, rather than treating women as a novelty or "other" and talking only about things relating specifically to women. (For example, nearly every all-female band I've talked to has been exasperated by the attention paid to their gender when no one ever refers to "all-male bands".) The following is a partial list of the women to be covered in the book. The ones with an asterix have been contacted and agreed to be interviewed, and the double asterisks are completed interviews. Some of the unmarked ones have been contacted but I have yet to receive a commitment from them. Please feel free to make suggestions. Also, contact information for people on the list who are not marked yet is always welcome, though in some cases I may already have it. -George Hurchalla
